The first modern Olympic Games coincided with the invention of the cinematograph, an event that radically transformed how sports are both participated in and perceived. Media storytelling began to influence the very structure of sporting competitions. Under the gaze of the camera and the tele-participation of the spectator, the rules and regulations of the Olympic fields began to shift. Movements were edited, slowed down or sped up, replayed in close-ups, or expanded through multiple viewpoints. For the spectator, this mediated perception of the games became an immersive experience, infused with elements of melodrama. With conceptual and aesthetic precision, the dance performance GLORY GAME explores the athletic body, relentlessly pushed by the rules of the game to deliver more and more, and its complex relationship with the audience. Modern sport drives athletes to their limits and beyond the biological boundaries of the body. Citius - Altius - Fortius (Faster - Higher - Stronger).
