Kerala Dust have today shared a brand new track, ‘Bell’, a hypnotic blend of blues, psychedelic rock, and techno and the first track to be taken from their forthcoming, as yet unannounced, third album
Talking about ‘Bell’ which lingers like a hazy memory - cinematic, pulsing, and impossible to shake - Kerala Dust said:
This song came to us in fragments over a couple of recording sessions. Echoes of the blues from a week of tape recording in Austin, Tx, it’s about the way we bury parts of ourselves – memories, emotions – only to find them resurfacing when we least expect.
‘Bell’ is a clear statement of Kerala Dust’s evolution and musically signposts their forthcoming album blending art rock, electronica, Americana, desert blues while harnessing dancefloor energy
With new members, keyboardist Tim Gardner and drummer Pascal Karier, alongside band founders Edmund Kenny (vocals, electronics) and Lawrence Howarth (guitar), their recent experiences of touring heavily after their 2023 album Violet Drive shaped the recording sessions of ‘Bell’ and the new album with Edmund’s personal struggles during this period deeply impacting both his personal life and his connection with the audience. He felt a desire for more proximity with listeners, reflecting a shift in how he approached the recording process.
Formed in London in 2016, the band draws from CAN, Tom Waits, and The Velvet Underground. With support from BBC Radio 1 and praise from Record Collector, they’ve played DGTL, Sonar, and headlined Koko in London.
