The Overthrone is a Swedish, Stockholm-based Melodic death metal band that has only begun its great journey. The Overthrone has released an EP, a full length album, toured through Europe and played at Wacken 2022. The Overthrone thrives to grow ever larger and to give something back to the beautiful world of metal through live shows and new music. Being inspired by the Swedish melodic death metal scene that has gained respect from all over the world due to revolutionary bands like In Flames, At the Gates, Arch Enemy etc, The Overthrone aspires to one day become a part of that list. The band has gotten incredible feedback for their first EP release “The Plague” and their full length album “Bloodmoon”. Songs from both of these releases were added to Spotify’s editorial playlists such as; New Blood and New Metal tracks.

Originally called “Vildvittra”, based on the characters created by Astrid Lindgren as part of “Ronja Rövardotter”, their name later evolved into Vittra, inspired by the mythical creatures appearing in Swedish folk stories. And while Swedish folk is a recurring theme weaving in and out of their music, the band is firmly rooted in Melodic Death and Thrash Metal in the veins of At the Gates, Dissection and Megadeth.
Founded in 2017 by David Döragrip (vocals) and Johan Murmester (guitar), adding on Alex Smith (drums) and Gustav Svensson (bass) in 2018, the lineup was complete with the addition of lead guitarist Lars Elofsson in 2021.
